The Murderbot Diaries #1-6 by Martha Wells

March 23, 2024

Space adventures of a charming rogue part-human, part-robot assassin.

Linda Thompson recommended this and I’m glad I jumped straight into the six-book series. They were fun, quick-reading stories with a unique and charming protagonist that blends a superhero with an awkward, self-conscious outsider.

The variety of human and bot characters, and the evolution of relationships adds heart to otherwise fun adventure stories.

The novelas were fun but almost too short, though the much-longer Network Effect was worth holding out for. I’ll happily keep reading these and I hope Martha Wells keeps writing longer books like that one.

This was also my first read on a Kobo Clara 2E, which is a welcome upgrade from a 10th-generation Kindle.
