The Road by Cormac McCarthy

Grim, hopeful father-son allegory.

It took me a bit to warm up to the plain but almost poetic writing style of this darkly beautiful story. Ingenious premise for the raw story of a father and son—and probably humanity in general—timelessly, honestly, and without distraction. Maybe more emotionally accurate because of its setting.

This is surely one of those stories where you can find something new every time you read it.

Deep characters that could be anyone, plain words oozing with insight, beautiful and groteqsue—a seemingly-simple story rich in symbolism and hard to put down. I loved this.
