I was surprised at how much repetitive material there was in here, like each chapter had no knowledge of the others and was fine repeating various ideas. As a cohesive book, it was okay. Maybe kind of rough.
But it was Brian Doyle writing about words and life, and after Martin Marten I’m interested in reading anything else Mr. Doyle wrote. His love of reading and storytelling and sense of humor are infectious.
I enjoyed reading this and piled a few more books onto my reading list as a result.
