I didn’t connect with the characters quite as well as I did with Martin Martin or Mink River, but it was another satisfying Brian Doyle tale. It included unexpected twists beyond the seafaring setting that’s unlike the woodsy backdrop I’ve become accustomed to.
There are so many little things to treasure in his stories I’m always a bit sad when they’ve ended.
I didn’t know how he’d end this one, but he did it beautifully.
