Winter Loon: A Novel by Susan Bernhard

April 5, 2020

A dark coming of age story.

I’m on an inadvertent streak of depressing books at just the wrong time.

At its worst this book was slow and felt like teenage melodrama.

At its best, however, it was contemplative and tragic and brilliantly descriptive. I highlighted lots of creatively concise phrases that captured a scene or an expression, and a handful of profound reflections from some of its characters.
